I was in this room when the earthquake hit. It didn't occur to me to head for high ground. When security banged on the door I assumed it was drunks and kept working at the little desk. Outside my window two guys jumped into boats, fired them up, and hot-rodded out of the harbor. "What's their problem?" I asked out loud. It was only when I went outside and saw all the people climbing the hillside that I realized there was an evacuation under way.
