Viktorija kept a popular small hotel in Nova Bila, near Vitez. It was home to the journalists covering the war in the Lasva Valley of central Bosnia and a neighborhood called "journalist street" grew up around it. On the left is Anthony Loyd, now a correspondent for The Times of London, then a struggling freelancer. His book "My war gone by, I miss it so" was about this time and place. Next is Alex, a young Canadian whose last name I never knew. He is best remembered for trying to out-drink a Scottish sergeant...with disastrous results. The next man I do not recognize. Then AP photog Dave Brauchli, and a reporter from the Washington Times whose name I have forgotten. It is odd that there are no women in the picture, as there were plenty of female writers and photographers. Perhaps they had grown weary of our company...
