All winter I kept a little secret.
It was the dust mote floating in the
corner of the door of the mud porch.
The dust mote did well because it has
grown large enough to be seen.
Starting out with almost invisible webs
they have gotten progressively bigger
until the secret is out.
Now it rides the drafts of the
door opening and closing going
mostly unnoticed by passers by.
My wife is aware of Sky Spider
and like me checks to see how
she’s doing as we come and go.
Someday she’ll be gone but we
hope her children will carry on.
