White Prairie Dog

White Prairie Dog

The prairie dog is a great example of adaptation to it's environment.
You would think that being a white prairie dog would be a disadvantage
and attract predators, but they blended in perfectly with the white soil
and the color tones of the surrounding vegetation.
20 miles down the road the prairie dogs were the more
common brown/tan blending with the soil and vegetation there.
