10-10-03 - Mount Ararat from 30,000 feet

Mount Ararat, Turkey

This picture is taken from 30,000 feet as I flew home from Iran to the UK and shows Mount Ararat, which although in Turkey, it is close to the Iranian border.

Correction made 25 October 2003 after comments below.

300mm telephoto lens on a digital, with three seats to myself on the plane! - and I was to one side of it - I think thats what provides the view and lack of depth of field!

real nice steve but are you sure you are 30000 feet up? ararat is about 15000 feet high, at 30000 feet shouldn't it be below you???

Great...GREAT Shot! God...if I only could see this with my own eyes...One day if you are in the area...try the other side of it...from Armenia...and both mountains....I am shure you will love my sugestion.

Dear Steve , i think the correct name of the mountain is "AraRat" not "AraFat" . nice shot though !

This is a nice picture but since you are going to visit Iran again I hope I see a picture of Mound Damavand next to Tehran which is much taller than all the mountains in Europe and it is also a volcanic mountain.
