There used be a curling rink at the far end of the Meadows many years ago. Is it still there??

re: Liz. it's an annual match between Bute and Millport (on a nearby island). Round 1 was last week on Millport's open-air rink; if there's not enough ice, they play on an indoor rink on the mainland. Apart from the stones and the brooms, whisky is the other essential ingredient!

I am so pleased the curling took place on Bute. Great stuff!

I will have to read up on this sport. And, I wonder how they stay on their feet wearing that type of shoe. At least the "insurance crazy" people didn't stop it from happening. Lol at Johhny JAG and Jenny Faa.

Hear, hear to Stu.

Nice gallery of photos - some really good ones! - Where do they usually do their curling?

The swines called off the Grand Match on the Lake of Menteith because they couldn't get personal injury insurance. It's a frozen loch. It will be slippery and there is a chance you will fall down. Why can't people just accept the risks instead of the health and safety brigade spoiling it for everyone else? Excellent photos BTW.

Probably the only time you'll see a Scotsman with a broom!

The curliness!

Don't you think someone should explain to your non-Scottish guests what Curling is? A clue: it has nothing to do with hair. Another clue: it's an official Winter Olympics sport.
