What a most enjoyable time I have spent on this website, the posted photos are wonderful, thank you Zak and to the others who posted.
The name Maitland certainly brings back memories, my name is Gourlay as a wee boy our family lived in 8 Hillhouse Road and then to Roslin Cresent. I live in the central interior of British Columbia, I've been in Canada for 46 years now but the highlight of my trips back to Scotland is my visit to the island.
It's still a dream to retire and move back and spend the rest of my days on Bute, there simply is no other place like it anywhere.
brings back memories long to come back to the place i was born

Hey Zak, I left a comment on your 'Bute is Beautiful' album, I love to visit the world via Pbase. Your pics are wonderful, I get a feel of your land and people. America is a land of immigrants, my families came from all over the continent, my wife's from Scotland, England, and Ireland. Some day we hope to actually visit. We wll visit your site often. We appreciate the skill and feel you put into your photo journals of a grand place and people! I've read many of the comments you have received and you deserve the props! Keep up the good work this is a fantastic site and I love knowing what is happening on the island especially the Port where I was brought up.Glad to know the Pavillion is getting a makeover. Lots of ex Rothesay guys here in Ayrshire and meet regularly and one subject always brought up is the indoor fitba and the dancing at the Pavillion. You can take the guy out of Rothesay but you cannot take Rothesay out of the guy.

What a fantastic site! I lived on Bute for all of my childhood and my parents built Ardbeg Lodge. I went to Rothesay Academy and was interested to see the new school.A superb site, which I visit daily to catch up. Good on ya Zak.

Scotland has the best light - I've never made it to the Firth of Clyde but after going through your galleries I feel like I've spend a day in Bute!
Zak, Thanks for producing this gallery I look at it weekly and all the memories of a great childhood in the 40´s and 50´s flood back, my friends here in Brasil think the Island is beautiful. Hopefully I will be there myself this year to see the real live beauty. I was born on the Island and I try to get back as often as possible so I am on my way as soon as I can, might see you there.
Thanks Dougie Shaw
Hi Zack whats new ?
Zak, I just spent an hour or so messing about in your galleries and barely dented them. Your landscapes are superb and so is the photo journalism. If Bute ever appoints an Ambassador it should be you. Finally someone should start polishing up a Darwin Award for Rocketman, it would seem he is due.
Thanks for visiting and your kind comments.
anne-isle of wight
I look at your pictures on the Isle of Bute website and particularly enjoy testing my local knowledge(but not recent)of sites. Steve Gascoigne takes similar pictures of the Isle of Wight which evoke wonderful memories. Thank you.
Lovely galleries, beautiful scenery & nice cars!
Rocketman's due a wedgie on that lampost!

Zak, I love your photo's. I was born in Rothesay but have never returned since I was a baby. Could I be cheeky and ask if it would be possible for you to photograph the house I was born in (assuming it's still there!) I don't travel too well these days so don't know if I'll ever get to visit in person. If it would be possible I will mail you the address.
Zak, I never know what to expect when I stop past your galleries, from your messages, through to your photo's. Keep it up.
Thanks for viewing my galleries. Isle of Bute is really a nice place for vacation and photo taking. Wish I can visit your homeland later.
I had a friend many years ago when I was in the Fleet Air Arm who lived in the Kyles, not sure where. However your galleries have convinced me to have a long break in your lovely area.

Nice pictures, Zak. You still live on Mountstuart? Smaller white house?
Great Galleries Zak made me real homesick
Hey Zak! I like your images. Your icy one is brrrr!
Zak your message is fantastic!
Thanks for the comment on the pad pic. Nice set of galleries you've got - will have to do a copycat and do an "out my window" gallery too!
Brian from Montreal. Excellant pictures. Was in Kilchatten Bay last time during the Stella McCartney wedding. Also, experienced a full 3 weeks of pure sun. Your pictures have really caught the true essence of the land. Some of your images remind me of the east coast of Canada. (Nova Scotia in particular)
very nice gallerys and amazing work thankx
Zak, thanks for visiting my galleries... You as well have many very good galleries.
It's always interesting to see images taken in different parts of the world. Regards.
Great pics, Zak. Love the modified Amica! I might just pay a visit to Bute - a kind of road trip - once I can get a week off work!
Lovely galleries, Zak.
Mountstuart pics - Nice work fella! ;)
