Introducing the Sony DSLR-A300

Thank you Andrew. You can't go wrong no matter the brand...just make sure you like the ergonomics, design, price, and features. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus...doesn't matter - they're all quite good. The best one for you will be the one you enjoy shooting with!

I recently bought a Sony A300 DSLR camera. I am going to be attending the Stage Coach festival in Palm Springs in April. I want t o take pictures of the music performers in low light. Any ideas

Some excellent pictures, i'm about to bite the bullet and buy a DSLR after being a point and click noob for many years. I was going to buy a Canno 1000d but after seeing these pictures i thnk i'll go with the Sony A300.

Your pictures are just gorgeous!!! My husband just bought me the Sony A300 for Christmas and so far I really love using it. This is my first DSLR camera and I am still learning the ropes on how to fully benefit from all the features. I can't wait to add some of the lens that you have used here to get these wonderful pictures. Do you think that the lens has a lot to do with the quality of picture or is it just knowing how to use the camera to its full potential. Thank you very much and keep up the good work. I am jealous of all the places you have traveled, my husband and I love to travel and hope to go on some cruises in the next couple years. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

I just love your work. I came here looking for photos by the A300 and you can convince anyone of how well this camera performs. I know it's the photographer not the camera :) But I also know that the best photographer can't take all those excellent shots without a decent tool so thank you for sharing

It's pretty much my all-round lens. Alot of my shots are specialty lens stuff - so alot of what's posted here is from the 200-500 for the wildlife and bird stuff, and the 50mm for the low light stuff. But the 18-250 takes alot of the photos I don't really post here, like family & friends stuff; and will likely be the primary lens for vacations (I haven't been on any yet since I got the A300). In my tests with the lens, and even some mixed use wildlife and scenics, it performs quite well through the range.

Thanks Marti...I've certainly been having fun with it, and have been very impressed. It fits me like a glove, all the buttons are instinctive, it's fast and accurate, and I love the colors and sharpness with all the lenses so far.

I haven't used the kit lens, Tommy. Actually, if you click on any of the photos, I've made sure to include the lens used for each shot in the information beneath the photo. I've currently got 3 lenses in rotation - the Sony 18-250 F3.5-6.3, the Minolta 50mm F1.7, and the Tamron 200-500 F5-6.3. I also have the kit lens, but it's still in its box...when I ordered the camera, I ordered it with the 18-250, so the kit lens was superfluous.
