Tropical plants in nature
I was amazed to see plants growing naturally up other tropical trees, like these vines
with huge leaves... down south where I live these are usually grown in pots indoors!
Please forgive me, my brain feels fried tonight... so hot and humid today.
We still have electricity, though we could lose it at any time.

A bed of salvia
I'm pretty sure they are salvia, and ginger behind, I do wish I'd taken
notes!

"Panama Queen"
I Googled and found the identity of this flower... so handy to be able to do this!
I just typed in "tropical, pink flower orange berries" and up popped a page of
photos to choose from, and I found a match, and its called Aphelandra sinclairiana, or "Panama Queen"
Has anyone seen this one growing? I was rather taken by the leaves too.. reminded me of a loquat tree in my photo.
Coleen informed me this is also called "Shrimp plant" and I checked - Google again - she is right, it is!

An unknown tropical delight
Does anyone recognise what this flower is? I have taken a second shot which shows
more of the leaves which appear and will show that one tomorrow or at some later
date.
Thanks to Coleen, she has identified this flower, it is from the Shell Ginger, Light galangal, Pink porcelain lily, Shell flower as per Google!

A colourful tree
I have no idea of the name, but the tree really caught the eye as we wandered
through the tropical botanic gardens - we have been there twice this holiday
and three or four times during an earlier holiday we had in the northern
beaches of Cairns. Queenslanders might know what this one is called. I
looked up Saraca, Jatropha and Cordia, but none of these were a match.
Thanks to Laine - I have a name - Saraca Ashoka! [or Ashoka Tree]

Coloured leaves - coleus
At least this is one that I know and have grown in pots, but this plant was
growing out in the garden obviously enjoying their mild dry winter weather of
28 degrees Celsius!

Palm tree and sunshine
Plenty of them on this beach just across the road from where we were
staying at the time. We have booked up for another visit in 2017
for mid-winter Australian time.

Passengers...
I was intrigued by these plants growing naturally on a host plant.. seems
to be quite common in the tropics.

Gardens belonging to housing in the tropics 1
Each day on my walk I was intrigued to see the plants used by the locals
many I didn't recognise, they don't grow in the area where we live.

Frangipani
A couple of young trees already flowering, none of the mature trees were
in bloom, too early in the season for them.
