Penstemon 'Catherine de la Mare'
A new addition to a cottage garden grouping in the corner of one of the beds of roses.

White Princess Lilies
Alstroemeria. A low ground hugging plant that dies off after flowering to come up again
in early spring. The plant is quite brittle and Flossie can destroy a whole year's display
in a very short time hunting for skinks.

Princess Lily - red
A new addition on the edge of one of the rose garden beds.. very low growing
ground hugging plant.

Blue Aquilegia - self sown
I had to look down the page quite a way to discover it was 2005 when we last
had these growing in our garden. Some ants must have taken seed down into
the depths, and only this year 3 new plants of these emerged. Commonly called
"Columbine" or "Granny's Bonnets" here in Australia.

Golden Violas
In a hanging basket in the gazebo...putting on quite a show for many weeks now.

Erysimum - Wall Flowers.
This one is called "Apricot Twist" and now is the time of year for them to
come into bloom where I live. They make a delightful display. I have just added
this one to a group of perennials in a corner bed below a delightful
David Austin rose called "Graham Thomas" a buttery-golden yellow bloom.
Interesting to compare this photo taken with the EOS 5D and EF 100 Canon lens
with the photo in NEXT taken with the EOS D40 and the Tamron lens.

Wall Flowers
Erysimum hybridum "Apricot Twist", a wall flower, we have them surrounded by blue bells
making a lovely contrast of colour at this time of year.
I am thinking of replacing my Tamron lens, it has been giving me problems
considering the EF 100mm f/2.8 macro lens... any comments?

Calibrachoa "Pink Eye"
Don't know why it has this name, the eye appears to be a golden yellow!
This one is making a fantastic display right now, I planted 4 in a hanging
basket and it hangs from an arbour in the Rose Garden catching the eye
as one walks along one of the top pathways.

Portulaca
Commonly grown during the summer months where it can bask in the sun to
its heart's content.

South African daisies
AKA Osteospermum ecklonis is a shrubby perennial that grows like a carpet here... we have a big spread of both the purple and the white
as seen here... then in another part of the garden under a huge cedar we have 3 different coloured daisies that are fairly new.

Phlox "Elite Blueberry"
A new addition to my hanging baskets replacing Silene that didn't survive a whole week burst
of 40 degrees Celsius - I lost both baskets of Silene, neither liked the extended heat.
I hope this plant makes a worthy replacement, it certainly caught my eye in the nursery!

Campanula
Campanula poscharskyana (Serbian bellflower, trailing bellflower) is a semi-evergreen trailing perennial, valued for its lavender-blue star-shaped flowers,
native to the Dinaric Alps in former Yugoslavia. We have this growing in the garden as a ground cover and
in a couple of large pots. All in flower right now.

Erigeron karvinskianus
I have quite a bit of this growing, it sets seed and pops up in pots and garden beds,
but I've got a couple of big pots like this growing and they make a pleasant splash
of colour for most of the year. It is frequently grown in crevices in walls or paving, where it rapidly spreads to provide a carpet of flowers.

Salvia
This is a new one in a pot bought amongst others from Richardson's garden
and nursery.

Calibrachoa "Sun kisses"
Something to cascade over the top of pots & hanging baskets or making a statement in the garden. Spreads to about a metre in diameter.
15-NOV-2005
Lavender
I think this one is called
'Sissinghurst' but I can't be sure
it is TINY, comes up to the top
of my ankle and that's all.

Gazania and Lavender
I left it too late in the day and it had closed its petals...
June 13 - 2003
Yellow daisy
Tough little plant - we never water it
but it survives.

Blue Aquilegia
with the last of the pink blue-bells
Sept. 8, 2003
Hellebores
One needs to plant these up high
especially after rain to get
the benefit of their delightful
markings.
Nov. 19, 2004
Campanula
Pretty groundcover growing at the base of
Austin rose "Mary Rose" and alongside
a cream & pink alstroemeria.
21-NOV-2005
Red Epiphyllum
Have also posted this in the succulent gallery
not sure what it should be classed as but
it certainly is exotic!
Gazania's in the garden
These are so bright and cheerful, thought they might look better with their own gallery
