Paddle steamer on the Murray
I had to wait as it passed the tree. N.B. the smoke!

Paddle Steamer on the Murray
This one really had the smoke coming from the chimney as it paddled by.

Campers near the river
What looks to be a caravan park nestled close to the river's edge and quite popular considering there were campers in June - our winter!

Bird in a gumtree
We were at Wentworth when I took this shot - but you find mynas anywhere in Australia.

River boats on the Murray
I worried about missing the boat it was travelling quite fast, then got too close to get the whole boat in one picture. Here's the prow.

Tower view...
There is a tower at the junction of the 2 rivers which I climbed to take quite a few pictures from. This shot is looking away from the rivers...

Twig and the river
I think I took this shot while we were at Trentham Estate Winery - the lawns spread down to the river banks - and I had fun focussing on this twig.

The rivers edge
Such a peaceful spot watching birds skidding to a stop on the river. You can see one having a swim.

The little bridge
I had fun walking over the little bridge and around the little paths and over the stepping stones of the pool at the resort we stayed in during our week in Mildura.

Architecture in the swimming complex
I can imagine these pools filled with swimmers in the hot weather, it really is a lovely setting - with little fountains & trickles of water into the pool and really nice water plants and stretches of green lawn for the minders & sun bathers.

Swimming pool...
At the resort where we were staying for the week was this beautifully designed swimming pool. It was far too cool to test the waters, besides there was a heated indoor pool if one felt inclined for a swim.

Sunlight through the trees
Later in the afternoon when the sun was 1-hour off setting. I took this shot from the lawns of Trentham Estate Winery. You can see a pelican swimming away from me...

A reconstructed station homestead
Set in the Inland Botanic Park and fenced in with a pretty garden. It was near closing time when we visited the park so we didn't really find out what the homestead is used for. Maybe its for coffee and teas when they have a group visiting the park.

On the trail
One of the many views we had as we traipsed around the pathway on the trail through the Inland Botanic Park. You should have seen & heard all the birdlife happening!

A strange looking seedhead maybe?
This odd looking plant had the tiniest blooms which I had to search for, but this cluster of buds or seeds caught my eye.

Native buttercup
We found clumps of these growing along the trail in the Inland Botanic Park.

Micromyrtia
At least, that's what I think it is. There wasn't a label. Its a tiny plant with flowers no larger than 1-cm. We discovered it in flower on a trail in the Inland Botanic Park.

At the river's edge...
We hung around the river's edge quite a few times in the 4 days we had free - and its going to be difficult to choose just a handful of shots to display in this gallery.

Eremophila
...or maybe a Prostanthera (native mintbush). There weren't too many labels on the plants.

Eremophila
...or "emu bush" named because emus like to feed on them.
Growing on one of the many walking trails.

The river's edge
Ancient red-gums actually sitting in the water, and plenty of reeds for the birds while rejuvenated paddle steamers and houseboats chug along between the locks.

By the side of the River Murray
This shot was taken late afternoon at Trenham Estate Winery whose lawns extend down to the riverbanks. You can order your steaks, cook them yourself if you wish and eat them outside accompanied by views like this.
