We have a very long and dry summer and in 2006 summer started early. Everything is tinder dry and catches fire so easily. Early December and a couple of young kids started a fire that quickly spread through rough terrain and threatened houses and property - and with changes of wind direction the fire threatened areas north south east and west, including where we live. WE COULD HEAR THE ROAR OF THE FIRE AND WERE SMOKED OUT Luckily the wind dropped long enough for the multitude of fire fighting equipment and firemen to get it under control. These few photos show smouldering hillsides and activity after the area was opened up for people to return to the area.
