Many people think this image went in photoshop for a full makeover. It did go into photoshop for a level adjustment and slight saturation correction but that's it. I had the camera (A Nikon D100) for less tha a week when I shot that image. I did go to that place many times but was never successful in getting anything satisfying there mostly because I had no clouds to play with. The mist calls for a morning shot and it is a very early morning sunrise too. I did use a tripod and shot several image to get the colors I wanted. I ended up using a Shade -3 (around 9100 K correction) White Balance to get most of the orange into the image. It looked good in the LCD from the camera but was stellar in my monitor at home. The lens used was a cheapo Nikon AF 18-35mm 3.5/4.5. Sometimes, gear isn't everything. This single image bought my equipment for years as it was sold many times around the world. It was featured in magazines, printed up to 60 inch wide and is the the top 12 images at www.photosig.com for highest rating. Yeah, I was proud I had the decency to shoot that one in RAW :-)
