2010 0604 Silver Mine Bay, Ngon Ping, Yin Hing Monastery & Tai O

On June 4 six of us plus one spouse met at Pier 6 in the Central and took the 09:50 fast ferry to Mui Wo. While waiting for our transport we loitered around the Silver Mine Bay for about half an hour. The weather was nice but not too good for photo taking due to the grey sky with no clouds. Joe's friend Mr. Cheung (former colleague and now chief superintendent of the Yin Hing Monastery) picked us up in a 7-people Toyota Noah carrier to Ngon Ping. We spent about an hour and a half there sightseeing the market place, the Buddha statue and Po Lin Monastery. Then we were picked up again and headed for Yin Hing Monastery (about 20-minute ride). After a delicious vegetarian lunch (much better and more creative than the Po Lin's fast food type meal) we were shown around the monastery including the 33 Guan Yin statues (work-in-progress only and so it's not yet 33). Around 14:00 we went to Tai O. And for HK$100 (instead of HK$15 per head and thank you Joe) seven of us took a boat ride (20 minutes) to tour the Tai O inland waterways and out to Ling Ting Ocean to watch dolphins. We managed to see one. Its pink and fat that probably why it didn't jump into the air. And by using the highest speed (nine frames per second) of my camera I got some photos of it. However as I didn't have time to switch my telephoto lens from the F6 to D3 so the image of the dolphin is real tiny. After the water tour we did some shopping at a seafood shop and bought stuff like fish maw, shrimp paste, XO chili sauce etc. At 15:45 the car picked us up and delivered us (Mr. Cheung's colleague) to Tung Chung where we'd (sans Joe) afternoon tea at the shopping mall before heading home.
Equipment used: Nikon D3 + AFS 28-70/f2.8 and F6 + AFS 70-200/f2.8 (Fujicolor 100)
