Around noon we took the fast train to Letchworth, the Garden City to visit a friend of Maggie. And SYL met us at the train station around 13:30. It’s a small town but it’s where the first roundabout in the UK was built (in 1909). We’d home-made cup cakes (and well made) and ham shanks (real crispy and excellent value @ £1.99) as afternoon tea. Then we went to the William Morrison Supermarket; and stopped by the aforesaid roundabout for a few photos. In the afternoon I spent time reading Tao Kit’s collected works (volumes 1, 2, 23 & 24 etc) especially those about his years in the UK. We’d dinner at home and my friend (joined by her 3rd and 4th daughter) served us delectable dishes including curry chicken and traditional Chinese soup. The 3rd daughter drove us (with SYL too) to the Hitchin Station and we took the 21:40 train (slow train though) back to London.
