Some friends noticed that I’d employed the use of a DC, Lumix LX3 during my recent trip to the UK and Marrakech more often than before. Here’re the rationales behind:

1. For this trip I brought along only one DSLR body, the D3. So out of laziness or hastiness, instead of changing the lenses (17-35 & 70-200) I used the Lumix 3 in some occasions.
2. In the last two years my left eye (the dominant eye) suffered from cataract (finally surgical removed it on last Monday, May 25) so focusing via the LCD screen could be a problem. With the LX3 (replacing the LX2) I could use the new DMW-VF1 external optical viewfinder with my “healthier” right eye for better focusing.
3. Under some circumstances e.g. the demonstration photo (0516 Trafalgar Sq Demonstration 01) I believe its “safer” to use a DC.
4. I always like to bring a DC for taking food photos at a restaurant.
