Dance in India


In India, dance is one of those things every young girl spends atleast a few years learning.
Just like the different states have different languages, each also has its own dance form.
The main dances are Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, Manipuri and Kathakali.
There are also many folk dances, each with its own trait, and passed on through the generations.
Dance has been portrayed in art and sculptures from centuries ago. Many Hindu myths talk of
beautiful maidens (apsaras) dancing to seduce the kings and also the most sincere of sages.
No matter where you go in India, you are bound to run into people dancing, and the beauty,
grace, rhythm, antics and form of these dances will continue to amaze you.
