Blowing the conch. During the olden days when two kingdoms used to fight,
when they stood on the battleground, each would announce their preparedness
by blowing a conch. The Bhagavad Gita, the holy book of Hindus begins with the
blowing of a conch. It is thus a sign to herald a new beginning.
