12.09.04 - Incense

State College

Incense is a preparation of aromatic plant matter, often with the addition of
essential oils extracted from plant or animal sources, intended to release fragrant
smoke for religious, therapeutic or simply aesthetic purposes as it smolders. You light
the incense on fire, and then extinguish the flame so that the incense continues to glow and smoke.

In India, there is a custom that is followed in almost every home. Every evening, at dusk,
lamps are lit, the doors are opened and incense is lit. It is believed that evil spirits
will come at dusk, thus lamps and incense are lit to scare them away. The reasons and beliefs
might differ, but it is always nice to come home to a welcoming home in the evening.

I never realized exactly how incense was made. My wife and I have always loved burning it, especially late at night. It is so relaxing and gives off the best aroma.http://www.tulsi-incense.com.au/Smudge,-White-Sage-(Wholesale)/pl.php?resetbrand=1

Hi Eduardo, I am not sure where in India you traveled to or when but most of India now is very highly developed and very comparable to the cities anywhere in the world if not better.
cheers
