Charleston, SC is the first stop of our 9 days trip. With the help of GPS, we were able to eventually locate the Waterfront park after many confusing turns. The morning mist stills and reluctant to expose the beauty of Charleston harbor. It was totally foggy when we arrived at the pier, I took some pictures of the Navy Pier and bay side with 24-70, not expecting anything to show up before I leave. I decided not to have any regrades before I leave, so, I walked back to my car and took some time assembled the 70-200 1.4x and 40D, just to take some bird shot. But, out of my expectation, I suddenly realized that the mist is withdrawing while I was taking a long shot of twin Seagulls standing at the pier top, the beauty slowly pulled her veil and started to show her beautifulness. I feel lucky that I pulled the 70-200 before the mist totally disappear, eventually, I was able to grab the moment when everything started showing up from no where. This reminded me of a scene in the movie The Longest Day when the fleet suddenly appeared at the Omaha beach--totally out of surprise.
Then next stop is USS Yorktown, where we spend hours walking the tours that lead us to the different part of the ship. I was amazed how advanced the steel industry and shipbuilding industry were at that time.
