Schneider Pediatric Hospital, Petach-Tikva, Israel

As Sivan receives so many medicines, infusions & blood components, and also a lot of blood is taken from her constantly, the doctors insert a temporary wire to her veins in order to enable easy access to her veins.
At first they inserted a temporary port through her neck (as seen here), later replacing it with a more permanent one directly to the heart, using the Hickman device.

Well, the neck thing here was only a temporary solution for the first days. Later they installed her a Hickman port, also in the chest. She is too yound for Port-A-Cath. To compare see:http://patient.cancerconsultants.com/cancer_tips.aspx?id=196

Danny, as time goes on and Sivan grows, you might want to consider a medi-port. Best thing we could have done for our son. It is in the chest area just under the skin and allows him the ability to do whatever he wants when he has the energy.
