The Village of Mas'ha was once synonymous with co-existence. Israelis use to come to the village every weekend for shopping. Hani Amaer house on the main road, was at the entrance to the village, just next to the Israeli settlement of ElQana. It was at a prime location welcoming the Israeli weekend shoppers who came by the thousands to the village.

The shoppers are gone now - Israelis no longer come to Mas'ha. At the start of the Intifada (The Palestinian uprising) an Israeli shopper was murdered here by a palestinian terrorist. Since then the shoppers stop coming. There are new sounds in the air - Bolduzers are paving the way for Israel's "Security Fence".

During the month of August there was daily protest at Mas'ha - over 50 people (most of them internationals) were arrested for obstructing the bulldozers.

I just returned from some areas of Palestine and Israel. Let us separate Palestinians into two camps: your average citizen, and your average islamic fundamentalist. The same goes for Israelis: your average citizen, and your average jewish fundamentalist, or zionist. The goal should be - should it not? - to turn our collective resolve towards eliminating fundamentalism, regardless which religion. A previous commentator on this photo gallery noted that zionism has "hijacked" Israeli policy. The truth is that fundamentalism has hijacked policy in too many countries, including some nations of the West. It will continue to do so until people strive to educate themselves beyond the images and messages promulgated by either media or fundamentalist religious leaders. One simply must be stronger than the environment in which one finds himself, but that is a difficult task, no?

This places a personal touch on things I only read about in newspapers. Hopefully soon images like these will make people stop and think outside of thier narrow nationalist boundaries and recognize that violence is not the only way to impose suffering on other humans.

While nobody can ever excuse terror attacks - whether by individuals or by states - I do fail to understand why the State does not take the simple and straight forward way to stop these terror attacks. Out of the position of absolute strength and might it could withdraw (incl. settlements) from the occupied territories and give the Palestinians at least the breadcrumbs left to them. Do we truly "need" all of the land? I think the costs are far too high. One day, the inevitable will happen anyway. The Zionist ideology, which has kidnapped Judaism, will be dead and we will return to live side by side with our neighbours - the indigenious people of Palestine. Jews, Muslims and Christians together, like it was 100 years ago. If only we humans would understand, that we are not on this earth to kill each other. Then, and only then, can we call ourselves civilized human beings. And if we need a wall - why does this monster have to take another 50 % of Palestinian land? Why not on the by ALL recognized borders? WE are creating the suicide bombers of tomorrow and know it. So why not protest and stop it as long as it is possible? Until then we "shoot and cry". My heart goes out to all people who suffer under this inhumane occupation.

Eyal, instead of easter why dnt you show israelis celebrating hanukkah under the constant threat of terror? busses being blown up? a gaurd in every cafe? It is one thing to side with the hardship caused by the fence to palestinians (but they have chosen to wage a terror campaign) but it is another thing to be so one-sided. Your images show just how one-sided you really are. I see no images of blown up buses, of the victims of palestinians shootings, of houses damaged in Gilo by shootings from beit Jala, of the massacres by palestinians in Park hotel or Maxim restaurant in Haifa, of weapon tunnels dug in Gaza to smuggle more weapons to kill more Israeli civilians, of empty hotels and malls in Israel. How can you be so ignorant of the immense suffering of Israelis under the 30 years of terror led by Arafat?

Actually most modern nations have fences at their borders to keep unwanted people out. Stop the killing, that's why the border fence was put up in the first place. You cannot seriously expect to be able to kill and maim people with impunity for ever.
