Haaretz report: http://www.haaretz.co.il/hasite/spages/323015.html

Protest in the West Bank village of Anin Monday July 28 2003. Israel Defense Forces soldiers fired tear gas and rubber bullets on Monday to break up a protest against Israel's construction of a security fence in the West Bank, wounding five international protestors.

The protestors have attempted to cut the fence and break open the "farmers gate" - a gate, controlled by the Israeli army that intended to allow Palestinian farmers to reach their olives groves.

Israel wants to separate itself from the West Bank with a 600 kilometer-long (370 miles) fence which it says is necessary to prevent attacks by Palestinian militants.

The protestors claim that the security fence project (called by the international protestors the "Apartheid wall") has caused hardship to the lives of Palestinians.

Please feel free to add your comments on the situation and on the gallery.
