My Dad owned a 1958 Chieftain 4 door 2 tone white/red combo. Still my favorite car of all time. Purchased in 58, traded it in in 1968 for a Tempest. Quite a difference in quality GM went through in 10 years. Not sure the Tempest was even close to the Chieftain, but that may be an unfair comparison.

I had a similar two door Chieftain but in hard top. I bought it in 1966 from Omer Sharif the actor, kept it and used it every day until 1984. I loved the rear, the side, the dashboard and most important of all, the 4 speed auto trans. What a loss, its not there anymore. A friend of main has an all original with very low millage 4 doors Star Chief, lots of prizes!

1958 Pontiac Chieftain Two Door Sedan.....The Chieftain was Pontiac's entry level series for 1958. In 1959, Pontiac was cultivating a new "Widetrack" and Performance image in an attempt to attract new buyers, especially the Youth Market. Bonneville and Catalina became series names. The lone remaining Indian series names was the Star Chief, but by the mid-sixties, it was gone too.
