I had a few questions for a merc fan. I recently picked up a 1942 mercury coupe for $300.00. It need a lot of work but the orginal gages are boxed and in perfect condition. The only major thing that is messed up on the car is the rear wheel flairs. Any one know where I could find a pair. Apparently before the car was parked someone tryed to hotrod it out and took a torch to them... :( I was also wondering if anyone knew how many coupes where made!? This will be my first project car and I want to do it right and any advice anyone has to give will be much appreicated. I'm having a hard time finding any info on them online!
thanks much.

I have access to a 42 coupe in pieces left behind by my uncle. I'm not sure everything is there but I know a lot is. The engine runs. I saw one of these for sale in North Carolina for $14,500. What do you think a fair offer to my aunt would be for the parts? Your's looks great by the way. Thanks for whatever advice you can give.

1942 Mercury two-door sedan. Very rare. Very limited production year because of the beginning of World War II. Only 22,186 1942 Mercurys were built. This car is absolutely prestine, just as if it had just been driven off the showroom floor. Price when new was $1,030. This car would be sold after the war from 1946 through 1948 with only minor grille and trim changes.
