1941 Mercury Four-Door Town Sedan. Priced at $ 987 when new. 82,391 1941 Mercurys were built. Models offered were expanded to seven in 1941, including a new "Woody" Wagon that was the most expensive Mercury that year at $ 1,141. Interestingly that year, several Mercury ads featured aircraft with their cars. Mercurys were powered by a 239.4 flathead V-8 developing 95 horsepower, and rode a 118 inch wheelbase. Mercurys of that era bore avery strong family resemblence to the Fords of the day. Mercury was just in its third year of production, becoming Ford Motor Company's entry into the medium priced field in 1939, and was positioned price-wise above Pontiac and Dodge, and below Oldsmobile.
