1951 Ford Country Squire 2 door wagon. Last year for real Ford woodies. Although the Country Squire would continue as Ford's top station wagon offering, the wood trim would be imitation beginning with the '52 model. a pristine example can be seen in volume #1 of this gallery. In 1951, the Country Squire was Ford's most expensive offering at $ 2,029. Country Squire production was 29,017. Although this was the last real Ford Woody, and the last Ford facelift of the famous '49 Ford that saved Ford Motor Company, Ford celebrated a couple of firsts in 1951. The first pillarless two door hardtop called "Victoria" hit dealer showrooms and was an instant hit, selling over 110,000 copies in its first year. It was also the first year Ford offered a two-speed fully automatic transmission called "Ford-O-Matic".
