I would like to know what the color codes are for the 53's. I just pulled an all original convertible out of a barn that will be needing a repaint.

all pontiac two door hardtops were know as either deluxe catalina, super deluxe catalina, or
custom catalina, depending on year, starting in 1950. don gallo's statement is correct, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor, poci member since 1977

The term "Catalina" was introduced in 1950 with Pontiac's first "pillarless" 2-door. The name stuck with that body style through 1958 for, both, the pillarless 2-doors and 4-doors that were introduced in 1956. Then, in 1959, "Catalina" became a series alongside the Star Chief and Bonneville. The '53 was a great looking car then, and, still is today.

I had the identical car in high school in Vallejo, CA. It was purchased new by my father. I have original sales literature that shows an identical model with the caption Custom Catalina. Beautiful example.

Same message as before: No Catalina appeared until 1959.
