Omsk (Омск)

One of Siberia's largest industrial and administrative centers, Omsk is one of the most significant cities along the Trans-Siberian railway east of the Urals. Although largely concrete, sprawling and unattractive in its outskirts, the city has preserved a significant portion of its historic center. Held by the "Provisional Government of Russia" under Admiral Kolchak in the post-1917 civil war, it was one of the strongholds of "White" resistance until the Bolsheviks rolled through in 1919.
