Oklahoma City

Capital and largest city of the state of Oklahoma, founded in a single day on April 22nd, 1889 during the Oklahoma Land Run. Surpassing the city of Guthrie in both size and economic clout in the early 20th century, it became the state capital in 1910. The combined damage of a decline in oil, white flight and an ill-conceived, vast urban renewal program brought stagnation in the 1960s and 70s. Despite the disastrous bombing of the downtown Murrah Federal Building in April of 1995, the city began a gradual recovery in the 90s, perhaps best embodied in its lively, restored warehouse district of Bricktown.

The first twelve photos are from January 2005, with the remainder dating from New Year's Eve 2008.
