Irkutsk (Иркутск)

One of Siberia's largest and most historic cities, Irkutsk functions as the main access point to Lake Baikal. Founded as a trading center in 1652, it quickly became a garrison town for controlling the local, indigenous Buryat population. A fiercely "White" city during the Russian Civil War, it only fell to the Bolsheviks in 1920, when Admiral Alexander Kolchak was finally captured and executed.
