05.18.06 New Orleans as I Remember Her

The Big Easy

New Orleans was one of the most colorful and wonderful cities
I have had the opportunity to visit. I fell in love with
the Big Easy although my stay was short. Before Katrina,
one of my goals was to take my family there for Jazz Fest
and introduce them to the charms of this city.
I hope she can regain her former beauty.

Can you imagine some one would pave this city with concrete? I am from the next parish and know N.O. well. My ancestors build this city back in 1723 when it had only palmetto huts and Indians as friends. Surely, she will rise again. Shirley

beautiful night shot. I was in New Orleans the week before Katrina and left on Wednesday before the hurricane. So I was one of the last to see the glory of Bourbon St.
