May 25, 2007 - Artillery Placement, Ridge over Harpers Ferry Road
Warm and sunny again today. A carbon copy of yesterday, with highs again to get into the 80's. Still trying to recover from my trip to the eastern panhandle and the long drive back very early this morning. There were so many great shots to be taken at Antietam Battlefield. I liked this 'high ground' look with the strategicly placed artillery near the place of the final fighting.

May 24, 2007 - Tree Swallow
Bright, warm and sunny today, with highs in the 80's. I got back from my trip in the early hours of the morning, but took the time to post this one of a tree swallow. I shot this one at the Antietam National Battleground just across the West Virginia border at Sharpsburg, Maryland. This was the first time I had visited this site, and spent hours there taking photos and reading about this bloody Civil War battle. More to come.
May 23, 2007 - Recent bloomer
Foggy this morning, but expected to burn off and get hot today with highs near 90. These were not in bloom when I walked one day, but were out in full bloom the next. I'm not sure what they are, other than they were pretty. I will be on a business trip starting today, but I'll catch up on comments when I return.

May 22, 2007 - Yellow Bud
Warm and sunny this morning, and expecting the temps to get into the 80's this afternoon. I found this little yellow rose bud as I went for my morning walk. The hot sun has not been kind to the roses, so I wonder how this one will look when it comes out into full flower. I like the yellow roses, and these are a bright, rich shade.

May 21, 2007 - One of the last of the peonies
Warm and sunny today, with highs near 80. I was very busy (as usual) today, but took a little time to walk down the street from my office. This was the last of the peonies to be standing up. They get so heavy they droop down on the ground. I loved the color of this one.

May 20, 2007 - Mike James' Old Log Barn
Sunny this morning, but cloudy this afternoon with the possibility of a shower. Highs in the upper 60's. Kind of gloomy out, and I am fighting with my allergies. So I posted this one of an old log barn on Mike James' property. We walked by this one on our way to the pink ladyslippers. I like the texture of the weather-beaten boards.

May 19, 2007 - Daisey up close
Cool this morning, but expecting to warm into the upper 60's this afternoon with lots of sunshine. I took a little walk this morning, and the daiseys were blooming everywhere. I liked this one because the center of the daisey is so interesting.

May 18, 2007 - Flower Experiment
Cloudy and cool today. Expecting highs in the mid 60's. There was a little breeze blowing today as well as it being cool, so flower photography was a little difficult. But I did get this one, and then tried a little septia look on it.
May 17, 2007 - Good Rose Weather
Cloudy and cool this morning, with highs expected today near 70 and the possibility of storms. A surprising cooldown today from yesterday, and we did receive much needed rain. The cool and cloudy weather is good for the roses, and they are starting to bloom everywhere, including this bud that I found earlier this week.
May 16, 2007 - Young Sentry
Cloudy today with showers. Highs are supposed to be around 70. It is a welcome rain, but I don't beleive there is going to be much to it. I caught this young cardinal sitting on top of the feeder watching out. The light was so contrasty that it made the shot almoust look like a studio shot.

May 15, 2007 - Flame Azalea
Very warm today and partly cloudy, with highs in the mid to upper 80's. I have been fighting allergies today, so I didn't wander very far. These grow around the bank below my house. They are absolutely beautiful, but the wind seems to always be blowing when I try to shoot them. This one didn't turn out too bad.
May 14, 2007 - Pink Lady's Slipper
Cool this morning, but expecting warm temps and sun today, with highs in the low 80's. Some of my church friends took me back on top of a ridge on their father's property to where these grow. They are relatively rare, so it was a real treat to see several growing and out in full bloom. They are an unusual flower, but beautiful nonetheless.
