We landed at Temuco where we met our driver and friend Francisco, who guided our SUV safely from the airport to Pucón. After a brief respite, we rejoined at the car and headed off to find one of the most serene spots I have ever visited. Nestled in foothills between the myriad of active volcanoes in the south of Chile is a beautiful hidden lagoon with crystal clear azure water, miniature waterfalls, and swirling waters as volcanic mountain streams flow out of nowhere to meet and then disappear again. As evening began to fall and the crisp night air started to move it, we headed back to Pucón to enjoy the sunset across Lake Villarrica and bid each other "Buenos Noches" under the spell of Volcán Villarrica. I hope you enjoy the beauty and feel the peace and serenity in these pictures.
A Stream Emerges, Falls and Flows On ...
... never ending, never ending...
..to form Lagoon Azul.
Yet Another Emerges From the Rocks...
...cascades down at our feet...
...and still another chimes in from across the way......
...to join together and become one.
As the sun slowly decends into the western sky ...
...struggling to find color through the gathering storm clouds ...
... we say "good night" under the watchful eye of the volcano.
