The Blue Mosque, actually named the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, is an example of classical Turkish architecture. It is the only mosque originally build with six minarets. It has a dome that is 23.5 meters in diameter and is 43 meters high. When originally built between 1609 and 1616, the interior was not the blue one sees today. Later restorations using over 20,000 Isnik tiles and paint give the mosque the look it has today.
