On May 13, 2007, Worcester State College held its 131st Commencement at 1:00 p.m. at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. Over 500 undergraduate students crossed the stage to receive a bachelor’s degree, and 157 graduate students received master’s degrees. Susan (Shanee) Stepakoff, ‘84, Ph.D., who was the Commencement speaker, received an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters. Stepakoff, a psychologist, is internationally recognized for her work in the international war crimes tribunal in Sierra Leone and for her support for bereaved families here in Massachusetts. Gene DeFeudis received an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters in recognition of his local business and community leadership, and philanthropy. Linda A. Cavaioli, executive director of the YWCA of Central Massachusetts, received the Community Service Award.
