Another excellent modern air smith, Ken at K&P Customs is pushing conventional designs in different directions from the norm. Guns like his Scout and and Ma-Duece are a fresh take on old designs. While I don't always agree with some of his choices (like hinge frames), I always enjoy seeing his work.

At the annual Midwest Spring pump event, I once again had a chance to see Ken's work in person. The year before I had passed up his excellent lava cocker and regretted it since, this time I came armed with checkbook in case something caught my eye and was in my budget (lots to catch the eye with Punisher, Ken, Have Blue, Brad Nestle and plenty of pumpers looking to make swaps). To bad Ken doesn't do checks. He did offer me a deal on this Scout kit (much more in my price range then the Ma-deuce), which I couldn't pass up.

This one lacks some of the milling of the original, but still features the hidden duel pump arms, duel detents and the very creative quick change pump setup. His newest version even has internalized air passages and set up to run Hawaiian style, which I got to see (though wasn't for sale). I had my choice of blue or red, and decided on the red. With the metallic sparkle powder coat, it reminds me of something off Biker Build-off.

As a kit it came with most of the parts I needed, and everything except the ball detents I had lying around. Sadly, I never got around to finishing it up and decided that stock class isn' my thing so traded it to someone who will treat it right.
