Shocktech SFL

Name: SFL
Manufactured by: Shocktech
MSRP: $1300
Rarity: ***

Wow, I feel like I've been neglecting my poor faithful SFL with updating the other galleries. More pics are on the way.

This is my current workhorse, and the gun that convinced me to stay in paintball. I came within an inch and a word of selling everything and walking away after a lot of bad times, but this gun convinced me I did still love the game and I could still enjoy playing. The FGP lpr had a mishap with a strap wrench and is slightly bent, but it still shoots perfectly so I won't replace it. This gun will be buried with me.

Early SFL's were built by Danny love still, however, later ones he hardly touched. The SFL was meant to be a cheaper, performance oriented cocker that was easier to build then its predecessor the Westwood by removing the expensive CNC milling required on each Westwood. Although many of the same design concepts were used that had been on previous BBT cockers, the SFL (super frigging light) featured the latest in BBT components like the FGP reg (f*** Glen Palmer is the popular source of those letters, and there may be some truth behind it, however it should be noted, BBT used Palmers pneumatics for many years and even made a BBT typhoon in the early 90's.), roller sears and the bomb 4-way. Early SFL's are pretty rare, later ones are very easy to find.

Although Ravi gave the SFL rave reviews and the early ones were very nice, the line degenerated pretty heavily as it became one of the most common high end cockers on the market with a Varity of triggers. Although the slide triggers still retained much of their feel, less effort was put into the fine tuning as the market demanded the e-blade and hinge frame versions. Shocktech’s reputation has also slipped in recent years as less quality products came on to the market and they have branched once more into other guns. The SFL cocker line has now been discontinued, ending a great legacy.
