This mod is for the new Elinchome D-Lite IT with cooling fan. There is nothing really wrong except it whines. It wasn't defective but annoying enough that I decided to check it out. Taking everything apart was easy enough. The fan is actually a good quality Sunon KED0504PFV1 (pic 1) high speed fan which runs at 7000rpm, 8cfm, 32db, The truth is this fan would never be quiet at such high speed, but at least I was hoping to dampen the high pinch noise somewhat. Since the fan was not fastened onto anything (pic 2), it sat loosely and vibrated as it spun. To dampen the vibration, a 1mm thick low density foam was taped on the rear edge of the fan (pic 3), and the 2 corners facing down. 2 thicker foam were taped to the other 2 corners too (pic 4) so when everything was put together, the foam would be squeezed and therefore dampen the vibration. The mod is a partial success as the fan is by no mean quiet but the high pinch sound is gone.

Also, despite being perceived as low quality product, the plastics are well molded and circuit boards are clean and well soldered.
