In November of '07, I started planning an upgrade to my home observatory, basically a pad in the side yard. It recently occurred to me this could be used as a model for the Peralta Trail Elementary School observatory that I've been pitching to the local elementary school principal. A couple weeks ago, I spotted a piece of 6+ inch pipe at Beeman Pump Supply in Apache Junction. Picked it up for $35 and took it to the machine shop where I had the previous pier at MountainBrook Village made ( https://pbase.com/wjshaheen/image/42311952/large ). Had them weld on top and bottom plates and gussetts. On Nov. 3, 2008, concrete was poured.
