Winter Woman Storyteller

In the Native American Pueblo culture, storytellers are valued as teachers of the community. To reflect this respect, Pueblo pottery dolls show the Storyteller with children and other members of the community in her lap. When one of my friends brought a Pueblo Storyteller with her to her posing session, it seemed fitting to feature the doll in her photos.

    I work with children with special needs, and do music therapy
    with them occasionally. This series immediately made me think of
    the Native American song I often use:
    The earth is our mother, we must take care of her
    The sky is our father, we must take care of him
    The rivers are our sisters, we must take care of them
    The trees are our brothers, we must take care of them
    The earth is our mother, she will take care of us.
    Lovely series.

    A super gallery. Well posed, beautifully lit, and at once with both simple and highly complex imagery. And the 'prop' doll is perfect - besides which, it provides a color interest in a mono world here. ~V~
