For seven years I've been volunteering in the art classes of a K-5 school in East Dearborn, Michigan. During that time I've taken thousands of photos of the students. But, until now, every image portrayed these youngsters as static beings. Nothing could be further from the truth! If ever there were beings-in-motion, these kids are it. If they stop or even slow down, it generally means they're sick. In this series of photos, I decided to try using a slow shutter speed in the hopes of expressing their high energy level. Please let me know if you feel this worked. Any and all suggestions, comments, constructive criticisms are welcome.

I like what you are trying to accomplish here Patricia, and kudos for experimentation. That's how we move forward. I've been looking at these images for awhile, and I'm not sure if the technique and subject go hand in hand. I like the energy I feel. Maybe it is the kids should be doing something more energetic as well, to go with the technique. Anyway, I'm going to give you a vote. It is not easy trying something different sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

Patricia, You have chosen a very difficult task for your project. Whenever I try to take such images I alway fail. But you were able to make them look interesting and I liked many of them. My vote for creativity and persistence :-)

It doesn't work well in my opinion. You tried being creative but it looks like a gallery of mistakes, pictures taken by someone who didn't know how to use a camera. The energy might have been expressed just as well (or maybe more) without the use of camera shake to achieve the effect you sought. However, it appears my opinion is in the minority which does not necessarily mean the majority is always right.

You captured the movement...that's what being a kid is all about until they crash at the end of the day! I really like how you portrayed this gallery. Original, unique and well thought out.
