Grace with a photo of her mother & grandfather
Tonight I will go to bed and sleep soundly. A concern that's been eating at me for months has been lifted. Not only lifted but transformed into a delight. Today I saw to the printing of the 35 photos I've chosen to show in my "Active Elders" exhibit that opens at the Ellen Kayrod Gallery in Detroit on March 27. And I am absolutely delighted with how the prints turned out! What a relief. Now I can get back to my self portrait project, "Falling Into Place."
I'm quickly learning that being a serious photographer ain't for whimps...

there are many ways to dance
Rana Chalabi's painting, "Joyous Dancing," shows one way to dance and Evelyn Neuhaus sitting in her wheelchair shows another. One may be more obvious than the other, but both reflect a joyousness of spirit and freedom of mind. Body-dancing is glorious but so is spirit-dancing...
I took this photo in the "Utopian Visions" group exhibit at the
Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. It will be up through March 29 and is definitely worth seeing. Another exceptional exhibit currently up is 99 year-old social documentary photographer Milton Rogovin's photographs of a Yemeni community from the 1970s in Lackawanna, New York. (

Sunday morning
For years we've had the New York Times delivered Monday through Saturday, but unless we get a special offer, Ed objects to taking the Sunday Times because of the cost. Isn't it funny where we choose to pinch our pennies? Anyway, we're on a six-week special right now so Sunday morning is devoted to reading the paper. I really like the special features in the Sunday paper but, to be honest, I'm more likely to read it online than in the print version.
