In many ways, this image is my favorite in this series. The old bolt, painted over many times, home to what is left of a spider web, and showing the effect of both time and weather, still does its job well. It holds the screened panels in place, allowing the breezes to enter yet keeping the porch enclosed at the same time. When do we take the time to look at such small things as this? Only when a photographer abstracts her porch as you do here, breaking it down to show us how it works and what it means.
