Jan. 2006: I've always wanted a Mid Century Modern house. I found this cool neighborhood called Copa Villa in St. Louis
with some really great little MCM homes. The best one on the street, design wise, is going up for sale and I'm DROOLING!
Needs landscaping work and definitely need to replace that stupid front door.

UPDATE: 5/8/10 ~ Well, the house is now for sale, quite overpriced too.
I went to see it, and about cried - they put in a new kitchen....
maple shaker cabinets, stainless steel, granite, and 15" floor tile.
IT'S HORRIBLE!!! This is an amazing MCM home, screaming for a period kitchen!
Fortunately they left the original cabinetry in the hall bath, which has the classic mid century
angle to it. (Deeper at the top than the bottom.) The countertop was replaced - I think it's soapstone.
Not horrible, but a Boomerang Formica pattern would have been fabulous.
THANK GOD they didn't remove the totally cool built in 50's wet bar in the "Florida" room.

UPDATE: 3/13/11 ~ The house ended up selling as a short sale for $165K. Lucky new owners!
Alas, they are not keeping the fabulous bar, but YAY, they are offering it up on Craigslist for free!
I can't use it, but let them know if they didn't have any takers, I'd try to find a home for it.
Hate to see it go to the dump. I clipped their pix from CL and added them to the gallery.

The House :) It's being rehabbed, thus the soaped and papered windows.

Note that the bottom row of windows across the house are those glass slat kind that crank open.

I about fainted when I saw the built in 50's bar! It even has a sink :)

Bar shot from other side. Aside from this room that has a cement floor, the rest of the house has hardwood.

Another house a few doors down. Looks tame, but bet it's great inside.

Across street too. Much cooler than picture, this one has a center chimney and the middle of the house appears completely open.
