RARE BIRDS OF MARYLAND

Since the early 1970s, I have been an avid Maryland birder, both seeking (and chasing) species rare to the State. Beginning in 1991, I started photographing rarities in earnest. These pictures are not generally meant to be artistic or aesthetically pleasing ... their purpose is to document the species involved, and for those who missed these gems, perhaps convey some of the excitement of the moment! They range from species with limited distribution or numbers in the State, or those that are hard to find, to the truely exceptional. Good birding, MLH.
