Ranger Falls 1

From Bridal Veil Falls I headed west on Hwy 64 to the Cliffside Recreation Area. A new trail has been opened to a 25-30' waterfall on Skitty Creek and I'll eventually get directions on my web site. I had never been to the Cliffside area and was surprised to find a self-serve pay station - $4 per vehicle. There weren't any envelopes, so I left a note saying I intended to pay. Maybe the paying part is only during tourist season.

Rich,

Thanks for the info. I'll find Ranger Falls on my next trip.

Sorry Wally - I've been slack about adding the directions to my site. I'll try to get it done as soon as I can. The waterfall is up creek from the lake. Drive in 1.4 miles and turn left into a short paved loop for a picnic area. Park in here. At the back of the loop is the Clifftop Vista Trail. Don't take it, but look to the right for an unsigned trail (at the time I visited). There was purple and yellow flag tape along the trail. Follow this trail for 5-7 minutes or so uphill and take the trail to the left that goes downhill. In another 10 minutes come to the creek and a small falls. Keep going along the creek for about another 10 minutes, then head uphill towards a big log. Not too far past that, bear left down to the waterfall. Hope this helps!

Rich,

I was in the area on Sunday and hiked to Sid's Falls, Reedy Cove Falls and Secret Falls. I love your web site and saw Ranger Falls in your gallery. When i tried to find it there were no trail signs that I could find showing the way and the campground host at Cliffside was not aware of the new trail yet. Are the falls up or downstream from Cliffside lake? Thanks,
