Hickory Nut Falls 2

The stairs up to the base of the waterfall were officially closed, but you can see from these 2 pictures that people weren't obeying the sign and board nailed across the entrance.

They are working on the stairs and railings and viewing platform. I think also in the winter there is a chance of an ice chunk falling from above, but there's that chance even from the area not closed off. I have a season pass, so no I didn't have to pay for this one trip. I didn't even bother going to the top with all the fog. I'm hoping to get back soon to find the waterfalls on the nearby Pool Creek :)

Why are the stairs closed? Did you have to pay $20 to take these photos?
