By this time, the leaf color up towards Lake Toxaway where Harry lives should be well into changing. Our pal Hal was coming down from Sparta, so that's where I headed on Friday. The color appears to be a little behind schedule this year, but we made the best of it. We picked Panthertown Valley for an afternoon hike because it was close by and at a higher elevation. Harry is close to the Cold Mountain Rd entrance, so we parked there and hit Schoolhouse Falls. We only stayed a few minutes since there were people in the way of shooting. A trail from here leads up to a nice view and potential leaf color.
