The road to the Big Creek area goes right by the section of the Pigeon River at the Progress Energy Plant. Water releases are scheduled and there's a put in for whitewater rafting. When I was leaving, the area was packed with shuttle buses, so I headed down the gravel road along the river to see if I could snap a few off.
